Watering Camels

Do you know who did that?

Rebekah.

She was picked by Abraham’s servant because she was willing to bring probably about 153 gallons of water to 10 camels, each.

She was willing to do whatever it took, the hard things, to go the extra mile to bless someone.

And she didn’t even know him.

She was the first example of the Proverbs 31 woman.

What did the Proverbs 31 woman do? Everything.

Just like now, in quarantine, we are fixing every meal throughout the day for every single person. We are staying home, we are making clothes and masks. Well, some people are. But we are all doing a little bit more then we used to.

We are zooming and teaching, making schedules, planting gardens, playing referee, craft time teacher, dance teacher, and keeping busy, rationing food to starving 6 year olds and trying to breathe at the same time.

But it’s ok.

Because we were made for this.

The Bible says so.

A lot of ways.

And you know them.

But it says that we have to have Him to do it. John 15.

But my favorite part is in 2 Corinthians 12:9

When Paul says, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Because, as much as I love all of this, it’s even more exhausting than regular life. Which was hard enough. So I am very thankful to be able to fall on my face and say, I can’t do all of this!

Jesus loves us and has called us to the hard things and is here helping when we ask Him to, for His glory!

So, watering camels might not look the same today as it did for Rebekah and Abraham’s servant. But we are all still doing far beyond what we thought we would be right now and growing stronger in His Love because of it.

We are doing the hard things and serving those we love and as we grow into it more every day we are growing into His Likeness.

And The One Who calls us is faithful and He will do it.
