Mom, She Needs You

Last week, I got to play mom. Early mornings of alarms, making breakfast, packing snack, dodging traffic and avoiding tardies. Then 3:00 comes really fast. The afternoon is full with pickups, practices, more snack, homework, studying, dinner, then going to bed so we can get up early and do it again. Moms, you know all that goes into your day. And so much more. You are incredible. I am convinced even more, moms have super powers.

One of my favorite parts of girls ministry is moms!!! We couldn’t do it without moms. Our passion in this part of ministry is to walk alongside moms in discipleship with their daughters. Because moms, you are the best mom your daughter could have. If there was someone better, God would have given that mom to her. God does not make mistakes. Nothing can compete with that. The enemy just wants moms to forget. So when the enemy whispers doubt and defeat in your mom heart, remember the intentional place and purpose God has given you.

She needs you. She might not act like it right now, but she does. And she craves time with you. She craves your attention. She desires your approval. She cares what you think, what you say and how you say it. Use your time wisely. Choose your words to build her up, be intentional with the car rides, the lessons, the quiet moments, the small actions. You can make a difference. You can impact her. Point her to Jesus in all things. You will not do it perfect but apologize when you mess up and start again. May her heart be most important, not her accomplishments, possessions or happiness. Holiness over happiness. Righteousness over the world. May our actions always be to grow her heart closer to Christ.
We are praying for you. We are always here for you. Whoever needs to hear this, you are an incredible mom and your daughter loves you so much. 🥰🤩

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:5-9‬ ‭

“Her mouth speaks wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her: “Many women have done noble deeds, but you surpass them all!” Proverbs‬ ‭31:26-29‬ ‭

Amy Cate

Originally from Pike Road, Alabama, Amy Cate grew up with bare feet and a bow in her hair. She spent most of her childhood playing outside with her neighbors, making forts, shooting basketball, swinging her bat or driving her golf cart as the neighborhood shuttle. At nine years old, she met Jesus in the woods at summer camp and she is convinced everything good happens outside. In September 2004, life as she knew it changed with one diagnosis and six months later, her dad and Prince Charming met Jesus face to face. Middle school started a few months later and she spent the next several years wondering where she would belong in a world not made for her. Girl Talk is the discovery of belonging in Christ and the dream and calling to bring girls and moms into that same belonging in having Jesus as their best friend.
